Vision, Mission, Values, and Methods.
The Vision of Solutions News is of a world in which those problems that can be solved ARE solved and in which a "designer's mentality" is applied to the quest to solve those problems that appear to be unsolvable.
The Mission of Solutions News is to turn a currently un- and ill-informed public into an educated public on the subjects of (a) how much better our world can be and (b) what principles need tobe followed so that "we, the people" can get to that much better world. This mission includes a relentless dedication to understanding and communicating the true nature of the problems society faces, based on the knowledge that "a problem understood is a problem solved."
The Values that constitute the foundation of Solutions News are those progress-oriented values championed by the UN Global
Compact,
the Buckminster Fuller Institute, McDonough Braungart Design Chemistry, and the Rocky Mountain Institute.
The Methods used by Solutions News come from the tranformational management sciences developed by legendary management theorists
W. Edwards Deming and Russell L. Ackoff. Drs. Deming and Ackoff both approach the "how question" as designers. They know that all designs are capable of being improved. They also know that human beings - because of the creative contributions that they make - are an asset to any organization, not a cost to be minimized. Solutions News seeks to highlight the creative human capacity to solve problems that appear unsolvable. Innovation - championed in such current business best sellers as Blue Ocean Strategy - is the key to achieving a sustainable future for humanity. Where innovation and creativity are blocked, Solutions News will highlight the nature of what is in the way. Historian and educator, James Burke, described this "new vs. old beliefs-based challenge" brilliantly in his landmark television series The Day the Universe Changed. Here is a brief excerpt from the first episode of that landmark series. This video runs less than 2 minutes.
